Activities Near Oxford House
Swanage is where the land stops and the sea and the sky begin. It is a place to cross over and a place to step back in time. It owes its existence to its beach and to the white heat of the Victorian technological revolution. It is a child of the Victorian railway age and it remains true to its parents.
Ours is a town centre which has not been redeveloped. The phrase "time warp" is often used to describe the place and clocks definitely need to be adjusted to Swanage time. If all these actvities sound a little too exhausting why not simply sit by the quay and enjoy a plate of oysters and a glass of wine.
Walking
Swanage is a gateway to the Jurrasic Coast and is on the South West Coast path. It is an ideal location for exploring the coast but don't forget the inland walks which range from rolling hilltops to mysterious heaths.

There are many well known climbs on the limestone cliffs from Durlston Head westwards.
Diving
Swanage is very much the home of English diving. We have a diving school which is the oldest established in the country. The sea is famously clear and there are many wrecks to explore. For the less adventurous the area under Swanage pier is home to many species normally only found in much deeper water.

Swanage is a museum in itself, being home to bits of old London brought back by George Burt as ballast in his stone boats - take a walking tour of 'Old London by the Sea' by picking up a guide at the Tourist Office, or take a trip on the steam railway and visit the ruins of Corfe Castle set amidst the spectacular Purbeck hills.
